Mission Statement

Empowering student innovators through experiential learning.

The College of Engineering Innovation Shop is a cutting-edge space designed to foster academic and research projects at the intersection of engineering, collaboration, and innovation. We promote problem-solving and creative confidence to tackle some of our future's biggest challenges, utilizing a wide range of prototyping and fabrication tools and equipment.

Who We Serve

The Innovation Shop exists to support the UConn College of Engineering departments, faculty, staff, and students in their design and prototyping needs. Students gain experience at the Innovation Shop in their starting days in the Foundation of Engineering course, through their capstone Senior Design projects. On the way, students gain experience in extracurricular clubs, in-course curriculum, and research projects. We also exist as a resource for engineering faculty to complete their research.

Please visit us in the Castleman Building to discuss your project needs or ideas. We are ready to help.

“Early undergraduate exposure to manufacturing and the chance to work on hard projects that require technical skills pays massive short- and long-term dividends to students.  Additionally, having a space which allows for interdisciplinary collaboration helps students understand how their field fits into the broader picture of engineering and gives them the ability to tackle much more complex projects.”

-Sean Resconsanki, MechE 22′ Current Ph.D Student
